Fly-Fishing 101

What a great idea...we should've come up with this class years ago! Learn the basics of casting and setting up your gear during this free class throughout the year. Fly fishing can be intimidating and overwhelming when you first start, so we came up with this itinerary (along with Orvis) as a simple solution to get the beginner or novice fly fisher started on the right track. In addition to the instruction, participants receive a gift certificate good for purchases at Fins & Feathers along with a one year membership to Trout Unlimited. Fly Fishing 201

Already know the basics of casting and rigging your outift for a day on the water, but not sure what all comes next? The 201 course is the perfect next step. We'll take a few hours at a local private pond and expand on the various casting techniques you'll need to be successful on the water. Topics for 201 center around getting everyone the information and basic skills needed to successfully catch and release trout on their own! There is no charge for the instruction, however, there is typically a fee charged to fish these private waters ranging from $50-$75 which will be dependent on where we end up scheduling each session.

As with the 101 class, reservations are required and we encourage you to e-mail the shop or stop in for more information. Participants in the 201 class also receive a gift certificate for merchandise at Fins & Feathers plus a free one year membership with Trout Unlimited.

Private Lessons

Our staff and guides are all terrific instructors and available for private or small group lessons covering a wide range of topics. We can cover anything from the basics of casting to advanced nymphing techniques. Our general rate for private lessons (2 people max) is $40 per hour for lessons up to 2 hours in length. We also have a variety of guided fishing trip options during which our guides actively promote education along with catching some fish!
