The Pink Boat Cometh
Last year was the inaugural season of the “Pink Boat,” which represents a collaborative effort by a bunch of folks in the fly fishing industry to bring more awareness to breast cancer. The boat travel the region and guides from all over the place sign up to row the boat for a day or two throughout the season. In addition to raising awareness, the boat is also out there to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Montana. There is a lockbox in the boat and folks can make anything from small cash contributions to write a big check. All monies go to the SGK Foundation and receipts are available so please consider donating this year!
Fins and Feather had the boat for 2 days last year and we raised more donations (over $2000) in those 2 days than anyone else that used the boat last year. This was possible because of our generous clients that fished with us as well as those that sent in donations after hearing about the boat. In addition, we donate out guide fees for those days to the cause. So, it’s a great team effort that goes to support a cause that is close to so many of us.
We have been offered the opportunity to row the boat whenever we want this year while it is around Bozeman. There’s no financial goal in mind as of yet, but we wanted to plant the seed now with hopes that everyone that reads this will consider making a donation when we do end up with the boat for a day. So, please keep this in mind the next month or so and we will send out final details in next months newsletter.
The plan is, at this time, to have the boat for a day or two in August. So, if you’ve got reservations with us in August, don’t be surprised if we show up with the beautiful pink boat! If you want to reserve a day withe us and the Pink Boat, just let us know by sending us an e-mail to the shop.
