Gallatin River - Thu, Mar 24th
Fishing on the Gallatin continues to heat up. Midges have been making for some surface action, but it is really about having the right timing. A bit of rain or snow can help to get the fish rising. Nymphing has been most productive with a stonefly nymph trailed by a midge or baetis nymph. Bright sunny days can make the trout head down deep for cover, so getting your rig down to the bottom can make a difference. Streamer fishing will improve as the water gets warmer.
