YNP - Mon, May 30th
Dry fly fishing has been great on the Firehole. Baetis along with some pmd hatches made for lots of rising trout to cast at for most of the day on Sunday. Sparkle Dun BWO's and Blue Ribbon Cripple Baetis were both excellent flies this weekend. Caddis and pmd hatches will get stronger as the weather warms up. If the fish aren't rising then try nymphing with small baetis, pmd or caddis patterns. Swinging soft hackles can also work well on the Firehole. Both the Gibbon and Madison are running high and dirty, but you could always throw a streamer around the banks if you are looking for other options. Slough Creek, Soda Butte and the Lamar River will be out of commission until sometime in July.
