Upper Madison - Thu, Oct 20th

Overcast days or morning and evening should be doing really good as far a dry fly activity. Both Baetis and midges should be getting in gear, but like I said don’t expect to see them unless it’s overcast or early morning or late evening low light conditions. Nymphing has been a good fall back option if the dry fly fails to pan out. Smaller stoneflies or dead drifted sculplin patterns, with a worm, egg, or bead head pattern off the back. Stripped or swung streamers have also been a good option. Just remember dark day dark colors, light day light colors; although, white seems to work whenever.
