Area Lakes - Tue, May 31st
I took a drive up Hyalite last night after work to see how the reservoir was doing. The upper south end where the creek dump in is clearing out nicely and the edges are doing goo to there are places where the ice in 20 feet off the bank, more than enough to catch some cruising rainbows. There is still some decent snow drifts up there some 3-4 feet deep, but the road is clear. The side roads and the road that leads beyond the dam to the falls trailhead are closed and will be for sometime as they don’t usually open them until it’s dried up there a little.
Hebgen Lake is also fishing good with the usual chironomids and leeches. I’ve also been talking to a lot of people who have caught a lot of fish using crayfish. People have been doing good from the banks as well as from boats a little ways off shore, but not too far.
