Fishing Reports

Upper Madison - Sat, Jul 2nd

The clarity on the Upper above the West Work is still fluctuating daily between 10-14in. That’s still plenty fishable but it’s really getting busy up there now because it’s one of only handful of areas of moving water that fishing, and this being a holiday weekend it’s only going to get worse as far as the crowds go. Large dark stone flies or bright flashy Goldenstone patterns with some sort of worm off the back has been the best bet. Fish will still be hugging the bank so there’s no real need to wade out too much (just below the high-water mark to keep it legal). Some black, dark brown, or yellow streamers right on the bank wouldn’t go amiss either. Between the lakes has also been fishing decent, but busy as always. Cabin Creek is still running dirty so everyone’s crowed up by the dam, which is no fun. Good luck and keep it safe this holiday weekend!
