The Firehole continues to be a good option if you really want to fish dries on a river. There are still PMD’s, caddis, and some midges. The flows are still pretty high; dry fly fishing should only improve. The Madison also has some of the same bugs but it’s been a little harder to find rising fish. Subsurface fishing has been fine with soft hackles, girdle’s, and buggers. Everything in the Lamar Valley is still a ways out and we’ve heard a lot of those rivers have really changed with the high water. They do most years but don’t be surprised if Soda Butte looks completely different when it finally falls this year. Hopefully that will happen before the Park closes.
