Fishing Reports

Lower Madison - Sun, Sep 4th

The Lower Madison had been fishing very well up until yesterday, which was tough to say the least. The water temps are dropping fairly fast, which is good for the fish, but still may have unsettled them for a bit. There was also an area of high pressure that pasted through yesterday, which doesn’t help. Whatever the case, the fish should be back on the bite soon as they bulk up for the coming winter, and the browns for the coming fall spawn. Crayfish with the usual caddis pupa small mayfly dropper had been the weapons of choice. Sculpins had also been producing nice number and quality fish. There are some hoppers still out there and fish are still kind of looking up for them. Blue wings and PMD’s in the mornings and caddis and pseudos have been hatching during the day.
