Fishing Reports

Gallatin River - Mon, Aug 8th

Our friend Bob fished the canyon this morning.  He saw good numbers of Spruce Moths and did very well fishing a big Elk Hair Caddis.  I had a similar experience yesterday afternoon.  Fish were eating a big elk hair better than anything even though I didn’t see as many moths as Bob did.  I think it’s safe to say that Moths are a very important factor in Gallatin Canyon right now.

Chris just went out and fished on his lunch break.  The fish down here in the Valley are really eating hoppers.  Smaller fish were rising to something else that Chris couldn’t see, (ants?) but he stuck quite a few on a Moorish.  For those of you who are reading this from some other part of the world that doesn’t have trout, yes it is nice to be able to fish hoppers on your lunch break.
