Fishing Reports

Gallatin River - Tue, Jul 19th

We’ve been hearing more reports of people catching fish on the Gallatin, even on dries.  I went down to the bridge today and got a fish to eat a nymph and we spoke with a couple of our customers who have had some dry fly fishing.  High water is still an issue and making it difficult to get to water that is productive.  When you can find those sweet spots you can reach it sounds like the fish are eating.  There are still golden’s and maybe a few salmonflies left, plus it sounds like the caddis hatch is starting up.  We even heard reports today of some green drakes in the canyon which makes sense.  This is normally the time of year we see them it’s just that the water is usually much lower.  The Gallatin should continue to improve and become easier to fish as it drops.  We definitely consider it a good option, but you will have to work a bit to get to the fish.
