Lower Madison - Sun, Aug 7th
Our guides had a great day two boat, half day float on the Lower Madison today. Paul’s boat landed a 23 inch brown with big beautiful black spots. Fish were eating sculpins and lightning bugs and the bite was definitely on. Rick caught some fish on cray’s, as well. We didn’t ask about hoppers; sounds the subsurface fishing was too good get away from. The river has continued to drop and afternoon thunderstorms have helped keep water temps under 70 degrees. Mornings have still been best, although our boats were off the water around 12:00 today. It would have been interesting to see if the fishing held up.
