Lower Madison - Wed, May 8th

The caddis hatch is in full swing on the Lower Madison, and lots of fish were eating dries yesterday evening. Dry-dropper combos were most effective with mayfly and caddis droppers getting as many takes as the dries. Morning dry fly fishing was also pretty good yesterday until the mid-day sun sent the fish back to the bottom. Nymphing was effective during the middle of the day with the usual caddis or mayfly trailed behind worms and crayfish.
