Lower Madison - Thu, Sep 8th
The lower has been nymphing well the last few days with crayfish and little nymphs, but we're seeing an improvement in the hopper fishing as of late too. Shorter days and cooler nights have kept the fish pretty active throughout the day but expect to see a slow down mid-afternoon on the hot days. One of the most consistent fishereis around this year and this is a great time of year to find some of the bigger fish of the year. You'll see lots of Pseudos out as well somedays, but will rarely see anything other than small fish coming up on them. When the little mayflies start to hatch, try going down to a size 18 or 20 nymph and you might see the bite improve.
