Spring Creeks Reports

Fishing has been decent on the Paradise Valley Spring Creeks.  There has been some good dry fly action with midges, and nymphing has been productive.  The fish aren’t as picky at this time of year and winter rates are only $40 a day now.  Subsurface fishing

The Spring Creeks are fishing well, but wind can be a real pain over in the Paradise Valley.  Dry fly fishing has been hit or miss, but nymph fishing has been consistently good.   Some midges and even bwo hatches will get fish rising when conditions are right.  Sunny days and wind are usual not

Hatch fishing was tough on DePuy’s the other day.  We got a couple of small fish to eat dries.  Little gray midges were all we saw, no Baetis.  Nymphing wasn’t much better, especially if you don’t like to target reds.  We did get a couple to eat midge pupa and a 14" whitey on a Sawyer

Brown Trout are still hanging out on the spawning beds, so avoid walking around in the creeks too much.  Baetis hatches are dying off, but midge hatches should get better into winter.  Small streamers and leeches will sometimes catch the attention of larger fish. Nymphing is best with the usual spring creek stuff like worms,

Spring Creeks are a good option during late fall and winter.  Rates are now at $40 per day, and the fishing is easier without the crowds.  Brown Trout are spawning so avoid stepping on redds.  Baetis are hatching early in the afternoon with cloudy days being best.  Midge hatches are starting to improve and

Paradise Valley spring creeks are now on the winter rates of $40.  Milesnick Ranch is down to $50 for the rest of their season.  Midge hatches have been good during the morning with Baetis hatches coming off during the early afternoon.  Try

At this point in the year it’s mostly Baetis, midges and small terrestrials.  The Baetis are really just getting going but they are out.  Smaller terrestrials are much better at this point than big hoppers.  Think beetles and ants.  Midges are a factor as they can be any time of the year.  This time of year is a

Pretty much the same stuff we’ve been hearing for a while.  Midges and Baetis are the big players right now.  You may see some late PMD’s, or more likely some tiny sulfurs in PMD colors.  Rates have dropped to $75.00 a day on the Paradise Valley creeks.

The main hatch on the spring creeks has gone from PMD’s to Baetis and sulphurs, for the most part.  Carry some little bitty olive and yellow mayfly imitations for duns, spinners, and emergers.  Nymphing can be a day saver, especially if you not a proficient dry fly angler.  The spring creeks are pretty tough right now.  Terrestrial are still

There are plenty of very picky fish in the creeks at this point in the summer.  Fishing has been good for experienced anglers who are patient.  Midges are out in the early morning and there are still some pmd and sulpher hatches in the late morning.  Trico spinners can also work well around late morning.  Hoppers, ants and beetles have also

It sounds like the PMD’s are really tapering off on the spring creeks.  More important now are the midges, small sulfurs (which kind of look like a little PMD), and maybe some caddis.  Terrestrials will also take some fish mid-day and so will nymphing with little PMD/Baetis patterns.  We’re still hearing of plenty of quality fish being

We just had some more good reports in from DePuy’s.  PMD’s are still hatching pretty strong on overcast days.  Nymphs will still take fish when they aren’t surface feeding, and you might even take some fish pounding the banks with terrestrials.  There has also been some summer time midge activity, especially in the evenings so be

We had another good trip to the MZ yesterday, with some nice fish landed and some bigger fish lost.  That’s always part of the spring creek game.  There were some good opportunities to rising fish during the PMD hatch and fish were hooked on both the corresponding dries and nymphs.  Amazingly it sounds like the mosquitos were pretty quiet, as

Spring Creeks are still a great option.  It should be getting a little easier to get dates now that area rivers are clearing, as well.  PMD’s, caddis, and terrestrials are all taking fish on top, depending on the time of day.  Sight nymphing is still a great way to go if you can’t get them to rise.

This is always one of the most popular time of year for all of the area spring creeks. PMD's are the primary hatch during the middle of he day that will always bring some fish to the surface. There are also some midges, caddis, ants, and beetles around too, so having a variety of small dries is always a good idea. Sight fishing with

We’re still sending the occasional guide to the MZ Ranch.  There are still some midges in the morning, but most of the fish are being taken on small PMD nymphs, including some big ones.  Be sure to call and make sure there is availability before heading over to the ranch.  A lot of people are still using the spring creeks

Spring creeks are always a great choice when everything else is dirty. Sometimes it's worth the money to fish to some rising trout when everything else is just not an option. Reservations are hard to come by right now but it seems like we've been able to find a few openings here and there so long as you're a little flexible. We

Spring Creeks are still a good option. The creeks are almost full now there are a few opening here and there but if you don’t already have a reservation then you’re probably out of luck. If you do happen to have a spot reserved then look for PMD’s maybe some late Baetis, and ants and beetles on warmer days

Spring Creeks are very popular this time of year as they are one of only a handful of laces where you can find clear running water. We are into summer prices on all the local spring creeks now, but even so they are pretty much booked solid. If you do manage to get a spot or already have one look for some late Baetis and

Spring creeks have been one of the better options with all of the high water this year.  Rod space is getting limited though, and prices are $100 starting on June 15th.  Pale Morning Dun hatches have begun, so have a variety of patterns along.  Dry fly fishing with baetis has still been good on rainy days, but nymphing is the way to go

Baetis have made for good dry fly action on overcast days, but sunny days can make it tough to find many fish feeding on the surface.  Small sculpins, leeches and buggers have been catching fish in the deeper pools.  Nymphing with little worms, baetis and midge nymphs has been most reliable when the hatches aren't coming off.

Baetis and midge fishing has still been excellent on the spring creeks.  Plan on doing more nymph fishing on sunny days.  Most of the bug activity has been in the afternoons.  Rates will be at $75.00 a day until June 15th when they go up to $100.

There are plenty of fish in the creeks right now.  The rainy days have made for morning midge hatches followed by afternoon baetis hatches.  Light tippet and small flies in sizes 18-20 when fishing the baetis.  Look for caddis hatches with warmer weather and even PMD's before long.  Nymphing with small worms, tan sowbugs, baetis and midges will be best

The spring creeks continue to fish well.  Rates are now at $75.00 a day and will stay there until June 15th when they raise to $100.00 a day.  Fish are still eating Baetis and midges, and PMD’s are showing up.  There are still fish on reds so be careful where you walk.

Baetis hatches have been coming off late moring.  When fish aren't looking up you can nymph with baetis, midges or sowbugs.  Smaller streamers and leeches can be very effective.  Be careful not to walk on spawning rainbows at this time of year.

Early spring fishing continues on the spring creeks.  Baetis and midges will keep fish looking up; nymphing with little stuff will fill in the gaps between hatches.  Don’t forget about little streamers this time of year, as well.

Baetis and midges will make for the dry fly fishing on the creeks.  Cloudy, calm days are of course going to be the best bet.  Fish are moving into the creeks and fishing has been good.  The usual spring creek fare should work just fine.  Nymphing will midges, baetis and scuds has been reliable.  Use small strike indicators when nymphins

We’ve heard lots of good reports from the spring creeks in Livingston.  Fish have been up on midges, baetis are getting started, and if the fish aren’t looking up nymphing with small midge pupa has been catching fish.  Fishing the spring creeks in March is a great way to get a jump on spring hatches and to take advantage
