Fishing Reports

Upper Madison - Tue, Jan 17th

Fishing can be decent if you can find a day without too much wind and cold.  Heading up between the lakes or around Raynold’s Pass is going to be the best bet during winter.  Nymphing is going to be most reliable, but you may see some fish rising to midges when weather conditions permit.  Smaller midge and mayfly nymphs fished behind worms or stonefly nymphs are usually effective.  The trout can be found in deeper buckets or behind boulders in protected water.  Remember that the river between Quake Lake and McAtee Bridge and also from Ennis to Ennis Lake will close at the end of February.
