Upper Madison - Wed, Jul 20th
Fishing remains steady on the Upper Madison. Fishing with salmonflies and goldenstones is slowing down, but fish are still eating a few of them in upper stretches of the river. Caddis, pmd's and yellow sallies are hatching and are becoming more reliable as the big bugs fade out. When dries aren't working well the nymphing is reliable with stonefly, mayfly and caddis imitations. There are lots of smaller fish being taken with nymphs down lower between Varney and Ennis. Hopper season is just around the corner and should be getting underway in the coming weeks!
