A lot of the park water is starting to fish. The Firehole and Madison are both giving up good hatches of PMD’s and caddis. A word of warning, if you fish evening caddis on either be sure to bring the mosquito repellant. Even in town they are vicious; we saw a small child carried off by them from the line at the DQ in West. The Gallatin in the Park looks much better than it does down here, although we don’t know if it’s fishing any better. The small tributaries of the Madison in the Park like Grayling, Duck, and Cougar also looked good. Be sure to take bear spray if you hit any of those. The Yellowstone in the Park was dirty on Wednesday, even as it was coming out of the lake. We couldn’t see any fish off of fishing bridge. Again, we can’t stress enough the need to take in bug dope if you’re going to fish the Park, especially in the evenings.
